Mouthwatering Melons are on The Menu

Melons are at their peak flavor in summer and early fall, making now the perfect time to incorporate these sweet and juicy favorites into your menu. With their vibrant colors and refreshing flavors, cantaloupe, honeydew and watermelon are incredibly versatile in both sweet and savory applications.

Sweet

  • Pan-sear or roast cantaloupe chunks until they get a smoky char; serve on granola, ice cream or in a creamy risotto.
  • Purée cantaloupe and honeydew melon with coconut milk, honey, lime juice, lemongrass, and salt; serve as a chilled soup.
  • Purée honeydew with champagne and freeze in popsicle molds; serve upside down in chilled wine for photo-worthy beverages.
  • Create a dessert pizza made with watermelon wedges, cream cheese, strawberries, blueberries, sliced kiwifruits and shredded coconut.

Savory

  • Arrange cantaloupe chunks in a geometric pattern along with cubes of watermelon, mozzarella, red and yellow tomatoes, and avocados; sprinkle with herbs, seeds, and microgreens before drizzling with vinaigrette.
  • Toss chopped watermelon with sliced red onions, strips of mango, crumbled Feta cheese and fresh mint.
  • Top cantaloupe and honeydew chunks with thinly sliced prosciutto and serve with freshly cracked black pepper
  • Scoop a hole into watermelon cubes and fill with a mixture of crumbled goat cheese, minced cucumbers and baby dill; drizzle with balsamic syrup.
  • Create ceviche with scallops, diced honeydew melon, lime juice and fresh chiles.
