Selling Meals as a Way To Connect

Regardless of our ever-changing world, food is the ingredient that binds us together. Just because customers can’t dine in your dining room doesn’t mean they can’t still have a meaningful experience you helped create. According to recent COVID-19 research, people are open to creative ways of incorporating food-focused entertaining as part of their social distancing.

Now is the time to offer “occasion-based” suggestions to complement your take-out menus. Maybe it’s marketing a Taco Tuesday Take-Out Meal, a Family Game Night Package or a Netflix Watch Party Platter.

Here’s how some Shamrock Foods customers are getting creative.

The Sicilian Butcher

The Sicilian Butcher is offering a “Date Night” meal for four from start to finish including a bottle of wine. Saluti to that!

Ruze Cake House

Ruze Cake House's “Boredom Buster Boxes” are weekly themed cake decorating kits. This week’s delights feature mermaids and dinosaurs.

Shake Shack

Shake Shack is providing ready-to-cook Shackburger Kits with everything needed for guests to recreate a ShackBurger at home. Yes, the secret ShackSauce is included.

Provécho Grill

Provécho Grill’s Lovers Survival Kit doesn’t just include its famous Paella, a bottle of wine and Xango dessert. Guests also receive a roll of toilet paper!

Los Sombreros

Don't forget to encourage your guests to tag you on social media in their screen shots like Los Sombreros did.

Aioli Gourmet Burgers

There is also an opportunity to build community connectedness by providing guests the ability to support first responders and medical professionals through meal donations.

Shamrock Foods customer Aioli Gourmet Burgers, in partnership with Modern Tortilla and Oak Wood-Fire Pizza, is prepping and selling weekly prepared meals for first responders and their families. The restaurants do the prep and deliver the meals to police stations, hospitals and fire stations. Consumers purchase the meals at a discounted rate on behalf of first responders. Meals run five for $40, 10 for $75 and 20 for $140.

Another option is to begin a spare change “round up” collection to be transitioned into gift cards dropped off at your local first responders’ establishments each week. This is an easy give for consumers who may be worried about long-term budgets and allows the responder and their family to order their favorite to-go items from your establishment.

Your guests are craving more than their favorite meal. They’re craving connections. And even though your dining room may be closed, you can still give them both.
